iRobot’s error-message chart covers Roomba 100/1000, 200/2000, Plus 400, Plus 500, Plus 600, Max 700, and Max 800 Series. Start with the exact robot and dock model, then match the complete app or spoken message to the chart. Its title is not a promise that every row applies to every model in that list.

Check these model-specific branches

Chart entry Scope shown by iRobot What to do next
Error 36: Bin Full Roomba 200/2000 only Check whether the DustCompactor bin is full. iRobot says not to rinse or soak this bin: empty and wipe it, tap out debris from the filter, and reinstall the filter with its ridged grips facing out. Contact iRobot if the alert persists.
Error 47: Invalid Calibration Roomba 100/1000 and 200/2000 only This is a support step: iRobot directs owners to contact customer support for a remote sensor update.
Error 32: Map Version Mismatch The chart and Error 32 detail page name all seven families above; the chart row gives no narrower model limit. The robot-created LiDAR map does not match the map in the app. Review the map and use the map-recovery sequence below.
Error 1029: Incompatible Map The chart describes a corrupted map and lists Plus 400, Plus 500, and Max 700 only. The linked Error 1029 page title names all seven families, but does not broaden the chart row’s limit. Confirm that the exact model is one of the three chart-listed families, then use the map-recovery sequence below.
Error 517: Basin Overflow Max 700 Series Use the Max 700 support page for the exact model; its instructions distinguish Max 705 and Max 770–779 configurations. Do not transfer the Plus-series steps below.
Error 517/672: Basin Overflow Plus 400 and Plus 500 Combo The linked page describes an overflow-basin drainage problem. Use that page only after confirming the robot and station model.
Error 672: Dirty Water Tank Plus 400 and Plus 500 Series A separate iRobot page describes a tank that is too full or not installed. The same help center also groups Error 672 with basin overflow for these series, so use the full alert and exact support branch rather than the number alone.

The two Plus-series Error 672 routes are not phrased the same way: one points to a basin clog and another to the dirty-water tank. If the complete message and model do not make the applicable branch clear, stop and ask iRobot support before handling the station.

Map mismatch: Error 32 and Error 1029

iRobot lists Error 32 as “Map Version Mismatch” and Error 1029 as “Incompatible Map.” The Error 1029 chart row calls its map corrupted, while the detail pages for both alerts describe the robot-created LiDAR map not matching the map in the iRobot app. Treat them as separately labeled alerts, not as aliases or as the map-capacity condition in Error 66.

The Error 1029 row in the chart is limited to Plus 400, Plus 500, and Max 700. Although its linked detail-page title names all seven families, the chart does not list the other four families for that row. If your robot is outside the chart’s Error 1029 list, confirm the exact alert and model with iRobot before using its map-deletion instructions.

The chart’s Error 1029 row says to delete the existing map and remap. Its linked detail page gives a longer order: first review the map in the Roomba Home App and retry; if the alert remains, reboot by holding the robot’s power button for 10 seconds, then holding it again for 3 seconds to turn it on, and retry. Only if those steps fail does the page direct owners to delete the existing map and create a new one. The Error 32 page says to use a mapping run or clean all mission; the Error 1029 page says a mapping run or clean all missions. Deleting a saved map removes it, so expect to map the space again. If the alert persists with a new map, contact iRobot Customer Care. The Error 32 detail page gives the same review, reboot, and remapping order for its named families.

Keep older and focused procedures in their own scope

The separate Error 36 guide for i and j Series and Combo 10 Max uses its own source and bin-cleaning steps. Do not apply its bin-rinsing instructions to the 200/2000 DustCompactor bin. For charging alerts, use the Roomba charging error guide. For map-capacity errors, use the Error 66 guide only when its model and alert match. For navigation, dock communication, or Combo pad-actuator alerts, use the matching Error 1010, Error 520, or Error 1008 guide only when the exact model scope matches.

This is a selected model chooser, not a complete Roomba error dictionary. The chart and its linked pages can list different row limits or recovery paths; check the current page for the exact robot and dock. If a code, prompt, or source branch remains ambiguous, record the full message and contact iRobot rather than borrowing another model’s procedure.
