An unusual sound can come from the robot while it moves, from a dock during a cycle, or from an operation that still works but sounds different. Locate when and where it happens before assuming that a motor, pump, brush, or other part has failed.
Stop if the sound signals a hazard
Stop the run for a repeated grinding or scraping sound, a hot or burning smell, smoke, liquid near powered parts, visible damage, or new floor damage. Do not repeat a run to recreate the sound or make a recording. Keep away from wet electrical equipment; disconnect power only when you can do so safely, then contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
Record the task and location
Before changing anything, note the full robot and dock model, your country, the cleaning mode, and any app message or light. Record whether the sound occurs while the robot is moving or stationary and during vacuuming, returning, automatic emptying, mop washing, or drying. Note whether the task also fails and whether the sound began after moving the dock, cleaning the robot, or changing a part. A short recording can help support identify a sound if you can capture it from a safe distance during ordinary operation; do not follow a robot, reach toward moving parts, or repeat an unsafe cycle to obtain one.
Compare only documented behavior for the exact model
| Observation | Documented example | What it does and does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| The dock sounds during automatic dust collection, mop washing, or mop drying | eufy describes fan noise during dust collection, pump noise during mop washing, and fan noise during drying for the X10 Pro Omni Omni Station. | Those sounds are associated with named station tasks. They do not prove that a cycle completed or that every noise from another station is expected. |
| The X10 Pro Omni robot gets louder on carpet or hard-to-sweep debris | Its manual says BoostIQ can increase noise when it raises suction and can be disabled in the app if that noise is bothersome. | This is an X10 Pro Omni feature, not an explanation for grinding, rattling, or noise from another robot. |
| The X10 Pro Omni station rattles unusually during mop cleaning | eufy recommends checking its cleaning tray for foreign objects. Its manual says to power off the device and unplug the adapter before maintenance, then remove and reinstall the detachable tray as instructed. | Inspect only the removable tray using the exact manual. A persistent rattle needs support; do not open the station. |
| A Dreame robot is loud while sweeping and mopping | Dreame says its fan and water pumps can operate together and suggests lowering suction to reduce fan noise; its page does not identify the covered models. | Use this only if the exact model and app controls match current Dreame guidance. Persistent high noise or grinding/rattling should go to Dreame support. |
| A Dreame robot makes noise while moving | Dreame has a support article about a possible main-brush-cover scraper, but it does not provide a complete model list. | Treat it as a model-specific lead, not a generic test or proof of a failed cover. Check the exact manual or ask support before handling the cover. |
The same task can sound different across models, and sound by itself does not identify a failed component. Do not use a decibel threshold, part number, or procedure from a different model as a diagnosis.
Make only a manual-approved check
With the robot or station powered off and unplugged as its manual requires, inspect only user-accessible areas that the manual identifies. For the X10 Pro Omni, eufy lists the roller brush and guard, side brush, filter, and wheels among areas to consider when its robot sounds unusually loud. The manual directs owners to power off and unplug before maintenance and sends other servicing to an authorized representative.
Do not operate a robot with its brush, guard, filter, or another part removed unless the exact owner manual explicitly directs that test. Refit every removed part as instructed before any allowed retest. Change one low-risk setting at a time, and stop if the sound persists or becomes abnormal rather than trying repeated runs.
Choose the next guide
If several symptoms are mixed together or you are not sure which function is failing, start with first checks. If one function is also failing, use its focused diagnosis:
- If a brush has stopped or pickup is weak, see brush and pickup diagnosis.
- If the robot returns but the dock does not empty it, see dock emptying diagnosis.
- If the station tray holds water or will not drain, see tray overflow and drainage diagnosis.
- If water does not reach the mop pad, see mop water-path diagnosis; for an odor complaint, see mop-pad care.
- If the robot stops, gets trapped, or misses an area, see stopping and mobility diagnosis.
If the sound is the only symptom, give the exact model, dock, task, and a safe recording to the manufacturer’s support team. Do not buy a motor, pump, brush, or dock part based on sound alone.
