The Plus 405 and Plus 415 do not use the same filter-cleaning method. Identify the model on the robot before removing the bin: the Plus 405 filter is cleaned with its brush, while the Plus 415 filter must not be washed.

Roomba Plus 405

  1. Lift off the magnetic top cover and release the dust bin using the controls shown for the Plus 405.
  2. Remove the filter and use the supplied cleaning brush to clear debris from it.
  3. Empty the bin. If rinsing it, keep the filter out and use warm water. The bin is not dishwasher safe.
  4. Let the bin dry completely. Reinstall the filter and bin, then replace the cover.

Do not infer that the filter is washable because the bin can be rinsed.

Roomba Plus 415

  1. Remove the dust bin and filter cartridge using the model’s release controls.
  2. Tap debris from the cartridge against a waste container or wipe it with a clean cloth. Do not wash the filter.
  3. Empty and clean the bin. If rinsing it with warm water, remove the filter first. The bin is not dishwasher safe.
  4. Dry the bin completely before reinstalling the filter and bin.

Check before restarting

Confirm that the filter is seated in its own frame and the bin and cover latch normally. Do not run the robot with the filter missing, wet, or damaged. If pickup or dock evacuation remains weak after reassembly, check the exact manual for the next step or contact iRobot; do not reach into a sealed fan or dock passage.

These steps apply to the named Plus 405 and Plus 415 configurations. The source’s instructional images are part of the live support page, so use that page and your unit to confirm the release controls and part orientation. For another Plus or Roomba model, use its own instructions. See also filter and airflow cleaning and Max 700 Vac and Combo bin care.
